A Gratitude Note to ‘Namma Trichy’

I’ve been told my face lights up when I talk about Trichy. Honestly, I can’t contain my smile. That is because it comes from the heart directly. This isn’t just because I was born and raised there. Trichy made me who I am, and that fills my heart with Gratitude.

Trichy is a small town and yet it has hundreds of educational institutions including some Anglo-Indian schools and premier business schools. Trichy gave me an opportunity and access to the best schools. I attended Campion which had facilities that were rare in the early 70s. This was a school that is focused on holistic development. The curriculum was driven to elevate the personality and mold a rock-solid leadership talent in their students. They nurtured my thought process and empowered me to be who I am.

Growing up, my father never had the chance to work in Trichy, and one of my burning desires was just his presence. The fact that my dad was far away was challenging, but every negative situation you’re put through is a chance to enhance your being. Like a big fish in a small pond, it gave me the freedom to explore and finesse my personality.

I realized there’s a lot of raw talent in the city. Even with the presence of the finest institutions, students have to move away to business hubs to look for opportunities.

It was my heart’s calling to create a change. We created thousands of quality opportunities in Trichy and the fact that we were able to break the chain is extremely heart-warming. Our vision at VDart is to have people live and work in the city with their families. That is why we set up our major operations in Trichy, even though we have offices globally.

Recently we have entered into a collaboration with IIM Trichy to redefine and co-create the leadership development curriculum in order to ultimately fuel more growth. Gokul, a student from IIM Trichy has been recruited by VDart. He gets to work in Trichy and stays close to his family. It’s a dream come true for the vision of the company. Also, for a boy who craved his father’s presence. Four other Trichy-based employees complete a decade with VDart, this week in July. They were hired as fresh graduates. They’re now settled with their families and children and it’s so exhilarating to be with them throughout their journey.

There is a migratory talent pool as well. If we can create quality opportunities for employees, they’d be happy to stay back. We intentionally aspire to create opportunities that create a meaningful impact on careers and align their passion for work they do. The quality opportunities would create a good influx of high-caliber workforce in Trichy which consequently brings in more employers, persuading more students to remain in Trichy. The surge of such extraordinary talent will not only channel economic growth but also alleviate the standard of living in Trichy.

Even though I’m away from my homeland, here in Atlanta, I want to execute my power and global resources to empower the place that empowered me and create a passion for people to flourish. That is my bit to show my gratitude towards Trichy.
