A Journey to Find Purpose

From Trichy to Atlanta, from being a below-average student to now leading one of the fastest-growing companies in the United States, here’s my entrepreneurial journey and the forces that constantly drive me.

I was born and brought up in Trichy. My parents come from an ordinary background. They faced a lot of adversities to make ends meet. Yet, I was always spoiled with love. I consider myself privileged to be the first among the family to study at an English medium school.

I get a fancy British American accent from the Anglo-Indian schools I went to and my American roots. It fascinates a lot of people but I’m a pure Trichy boy at heart.

I kept working for small businesses because I thought I wasn’t good enough to work for a large corporation to hire me. This came from my below-average academic performance. I was always an average student. Some people are fortunate to land up with good opportunities in Corporate America even with average academics but I lacked exposure to such opportunities and hence I started small. I got my first breakthrough in a small business in Trichy which gave me an opportunity in training. Soon, I discovered my passion to meet people, talk to them, and identify opportunities to help them grow.

In the process, I met some great mentors which made me adopt the mindset to appreciate micro experiences. I found my first mentor in a friend who mentioned in a very casual conversation that I had a knack for sales. He identified my strengths and highlighted my ability to articulate my thoughts in a very different way than others. Moreover, my superior command over the engaging conversations that made me a perfect cut out for the sales crew. It was then; I got inquisitive about sales and decided to explore the potential career opportunity. It was an informal mentorship that helped me find a way midst of confusion. A mentor can guide you but the key is to showcase that hunger for self-discovery and groom yourself in that area.

Incorporating a company at the peak of the recession in 2007 and bringing it to reach such milestones has been my greatest achievement. When the idea was boiling in my head, there were no indications of the market crash and I took a leap of faith. Uncertainty is always there but it is these testing times, which pave your way to success.

VDart has created thousands of jobs globally as well as in Trichy and it’s a relishing experience to create an economic impact. Every interaction I make, I try to stay true to the goal that is to create success, wealth, and quality of life. Trichy has numerous educational institutions that create a huge talent pool every year but there are no opportunities available. Through VDart I wanted to create that change and provide opportunities to the land that brought me up. Our vision was to create opportunities to help people live and work in Trichy

Whilst the recruitment process, I realized the lack of basic attributes like confidence, communication skills in otherwise bright students. The talent pool isn’t business ready and there is no one to groom them. This pushes their success further away and I believe I can help them bridge the gap by sharing my experiences in the journey. My goal is to talk through my journey, quote real-life stories and examples, all such other resources that empowered my success.
